Pleasantries
Pleasantries
Chicago-based progressive rock group Pleasantries first came to light in 2013 after their first record was released; a strange rock opera called, “The Chocolate Chalk Opera.” The band started as the brainchild of lead singer Andy Markantonatos, who recorded the opera when he was sixteen over the course of several months, influenced by experimental rock greats such as Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, and Ween. Pleasantries didn’t become a live act until 2015 when Andy got his brother Campbell and close friends Thomas Souden and Michael Tenuta to learn the opera and begin playing it live. Over the course of the next year, Pleasantries would go on to play tons of shows, writing and performing new songs and growing their following. Fast forward to 2017, and Pleasantries is set to release their debut full length album in June 2017.
