Slowcore band bristletongue is a four-piece from Lake County, IL with influences ranging from Daughter and Julien Baker to Smashing Pumpkins and As Cities Burn.

Fronted by nonbinary former folk artist L Morgan (they/them) and backed by artists with progressive and post-hardcore backgrounds, bristletongue brings a unique sound to the stage, and lyrics “whose aureate poetics bolster the group’s expansive compositions, which lie along the emo to post-rock spectrum,” says James Rettig of New-York-based music blog “Stereogum”.

In September 2017, their first single "Thistle Among Roses" was released with a music video that reached nearly ten thousand views on Facebook after the first week of debut. Their first EP titled "Femme Florale" was released through Prairie State Records in early 2018 and described as “four hypnotic songs about the way love and loss twist themselves into our lives, mingle with the dirt, make us feel less than whole” (Stereogum).
